Microsoft Figured Out How To Keep The Headphone Jack
Last year Apple decided that the venerable headphone jack was no longer welcome on the iPhone. And so the headphone jack’s death warrant had been signed, much to the chagrin of audiophiles the world over who prefer a quality pair of corded ‘phones to even the best wireless ones. Not according to a new patent awarded to Microsoft. The solution: a jack that can expand. When your headphones aren’t plugged in, the jack’s opening shrinks to lie flush with the rest of the phone. Slide the 3.5mm plugin, and the jack automatically stretches to accommodate it.
