My GOTO ultra-thin/minimalist iPhone 7 and 7 Plus case – Spigen Thin Fit 360 Review
In my opinion, the black Spigen Thin Fit 360 is the best, non-drop-rated case that I’ve used so far. Why? Because it offers the best texture of any case that I’ve used, it covers my entire iPhone and comes with two glass screen protectors.
If you’re looking for a case to supplement your LifeProof Nuud, you need to seriously consider the Thin Fit 360. I only have twos gripe with the Thin Fit 360. My first gripe deals with the control center on my iPhone and the second the handling between this white version and black version of the 360.
For my Spigen Thin Fit 360 review, I’ve given this case a score of 4.2 Eh’s out of 5. It is currently #1 on my ultra-thin/minimalist iPhone 7 case list. It beats out the Caudabe Sheath, Incipio NGP Pure and the Pitaka case, though the Pitaka is way cooler. In terms of design, the Thin Fit 360 is a simple case that snaps together. This case will add very little bulk to your iPhone but still has enough space to allow you to add a magnet for use with a mag mount.
The case fits well together but it may come apart during a drop. I’m not too worried about the iPhone corners taking damage during a fall where the case comes apart. Why? The front panel of the iPhone actually wraps around each corner so it provides a bit more protection.
The black version of the Thin Fit 360 won’t slide around easily as the case has a soft-rubber coating to it. This glossy white version will slide around like a buttered hardboiled egg. The coatings on both cases will show fingerprints easier than other cases. When it comes to handling, I prefer the soft-rubber coated version (the black one in this video. The texture greatly reduces the chance that the iPhone is going to slip out of your hand or fingers. The glossy version doesn’t handle as well but the glossy coating is holds up well in your palm. The edges are a different story.
When it comes to protection, I do have to poke fun at Spigen. The use of the term “360” seems to imply protection against everything in life but in reality, the 360 represents how much of your iPhone is actually covered, not protected.
From my perspective, the Thin Fit 360 is going to protect your iPhone from getting scratched for most accidental, waist high drops. I personally wouldn’t go and drop this on concrete and I don’t think it’s meant to be dropped in that manner.
The case comes with two glass screen protectors which cover ONLY the viewable area of the iPhone. The size of this screen protector makes it a perfect companion for the LifeProof Nuud. If you are going this route, I’d recommend installing the screen protector with the Nuud on it to make sure you don’t mess with the waterproof seal.
I did have an access issue with the screen protector which I’ll cover in a minute. I didn’t have any issues accessing the buttons through the Thin Fit 360. The port cutout are large enough for 3rd party cables and the camera lens is raised to prevent unnecessary flat surface contact.
My only gripe is that the sensitivity of the screen has changed a bit. I don’t think the screen protector itself reduces the sensitivity, it’s the edge gets in the way of swiping. I’m so use to swiping on a smooth surface that I don’t swipe high enough to get the control center on the first pass. Not a deal breaker but very noticeable if you use your control center a lot.
The last thing I’ll talk about is the magnetic mount attachment. Having this small magnet on the back makes it easy to mount your iPhone in your car. You don’t have to deal with bulky magnetic cases or having to deal with mechanical latches on certain mounts.
